Ciara Just Keeps Hookin' Us Up!

Here's another track that leaked from her upcoming album!! With a hard hook and a smooth pre-chorus, she prepares us for what's to come on "Basic Instinct!!!"
"Shut Em' Up!

I Still Love This!

I still listen to this when I want to relax....even though it was introduced to me through a horrible movie (New Moon) with a great soundtrack. (God Bless Alex Patsavas) This song is both transcending and angelic at the same time.
Bon Iver and St. Vincent are simply beautiful.....

Mark Ronson Bangs With Q-Tip and MNDR!

Such a dope video!

Mark Is All About International Business

Hit producer and song-creating genius, Mark Ronson is back with yet another dope collaboration with "The Business Intl," a name created to name all of the amazing people that contributed. Ronson has mastered the art of collaboration as he is well known for collaborating with pop/jazz sensation Amy Winehouse and has done it again with this new masterpiece he calls "Record Collection." This record exudes all of Mark's musical characteristics, i.e. old-school hip-hop, 50s to 60s energy, trancy pop and atmospheric featured vocalists. He comes up with dramatic drum rifts and incorporates long lost loves of our lives such as Q-Tip on the first track and single "Bang Bang Bang," and D'Angelo (in a way we've never heard him) on "Glass Mountain Trust." The album incorporates rap and pop in a combination that is overwhelmingly smart and cool. Tracks like "Somebody to Love Me," featuring Rose Elinor Dougall, Andrew Wyatt and Boy George, spring about a such a jazz/funk impression with walking electric bass, sick drum rhythm and synth. (My favorite track). The whole album is full of other surprising artists, who let go of their stereotypical sounds to create a new style. Ronson makes us feel like we're in an episode of "The Brady Bunch" or a house party that we staggered back from this morning. His tracks make us dance, smile, laugh, jump up and down or just chill. Get your hands on it Mark Ronson and The Business Intl.'s "Record Collection."

Introducing Ellie Goulding!

UK artist, Ellie Goulding has finally been introduced to America! She has a voice like a pop angel and a dope electro-pop sound. Songs like "Starry Eyed" and "Guns and Roses" place her in a "Telepopmusik" category. Using airy, wispy synth sounds that dedicate their notes to her voice, she is one of a kind. Her 4 track EP is available now in the States!

P.S. If you're into Dubstep....check out "Starry Eyed" (Jakwob remix) This remix takes the song to a whole other level. INSANE!!!

Shontelle Shows Off

Artist Shontelle's debut album, "No Gravity," (produced mainly by Rodney Jerkins and Harry Sommerdahl) proves party ready with its club beats and catchy hooks, on tracks such as "Take Ova" featuring Pitbull and "DJ Made Me Do It" featuring white-boy rapper Asher Roth. On "DJ Made Me Do It," Asher Roth's verse sounds unsurprisingly identical to Kanye's flow on "American Boy" (the beat does too....clearly, Kanye and Estelle influenced). The album also offers medium paced ballads such as "Impossible," "Kiss You Up," and "Say Hello to Goodbye." "Love Shop" with background vocal echoes and ethereal synthesized sounds offers a "sweet girl's night out" feeling. She invites us to party with her and fall helplessly in love with her on "Helpless" in which she describes how she feels girlishly silly around a man. The album ends with "T-Shirt" featuring the LoveKing himself, The-Dream, in which she strips down and discusses real female issues when dealing with a break-up. Of course, The-Dream adds his soft layered voice to the hook and takes the song up to a new high. Shontelle is Rihanna meets Kelly Rowland meets Jessica Simpson....yes, I said it.....Jessica Simpson. She makes me feel like a girl all over again.

See for yourself.....skim on iTunes....

Drink Your Troubles Away Bruno!

New and might I add, breakthrough artist first heard accompanying B.o.B on "Nothing On You" the summer smash, is back with a new reggae track. The bright-eyed artist and his crystal clear pipes push out the pain of the day as he emerges in "Liquor Store Blues" featuring Damien Marley. His voice rises high above the music and produces an aura of eclectic relaxation.

John Legend and Roots are Majestically Political

R&B/Soul star, John Legend is back with his strong and invigorating voice, this time accompanied by long time Hip-Hop band, The Roots. The album is pure funk/soul magic, lifting us off the ground with powerful lyrics and jazz/hip-hop drumming at the hand of drummer and band director, QuestLove. The collaboration begins with the track "Hard Times," with John Legend spreading his voice over the deeply soulful melody. Next is funky tune, "Compared To What," a trippy, neo-soul sound lead by a slappy guitar and high hats, gracefully inspired by the great James Brown. The track is mostly instrumental with a sassy saxophone solo, along side John Legend belting out occasional lyrics. "Wake Up Everybody" features rising singer/songwriter, Melanie Fiona and underground Hip-Hop genius, Common. With inspiring lyrics and beautiful harmonies, Melanie somewhat sounds like a young Lauryn Hill, backed up by Common with a positive hook, inviting us to change the world. Upbeat, bluesy track "Our Generation," obviously layered with horns and tambourines is also positively powerful, challenging the listeners to have hope and change their current situations for the better. (Has the sound of the beginnings of a modern freedom movement) John Legend goes straight back to church with his soulfully raspy voice, followed by a quick verse by Black Thought. "Little Ghetto Boy (The Prelude)" is a spoken word excerpt from Chicago based poet, Malik Yusef. The poem proudly presents the story of what a child sees growing up in the ghetto. The poem moves forward into the song, "Little Ghetto Boy," sung by John Legend with a political verse from Black Thought. "Hang On In There" channels an early Temptations tune, smooth and story-telling. "Humanity (Love The Way It Should Be)", inspired by Bob Marleydom, free-spirited and carefree, promotes life and love wrapped in a lighthearted melody. "Wholy Holy", very different from the rest of the album, is a very slow, jazz/R&B track, with lazy vocals and luminous relaxing energy. "I Can't Write Left Handed" is a track traveling down memory lane, visiting old Black America and the transitions that were faced after the Vietnam War. John Legend narrates while the old music, lead by the piano, inspires his tone. "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free" is also a spoken word track accompanied by the classic "Roots" sounds; slow and jazzy, then later fades into "Shine," a religious inspired melody coated with the voice of John Legend and his fabulously seasoned piano skills. "Shine" again appears in a different version, more classic of John's older songs such as "Ordinary People" (The Roots let him go solo on this track), with light piano rifts and powerful voice. The album comes to an end with a live rendition of "Wake Up Everybody," reminding us of the focus of the collaboration. Overall, this is a particularly political album, rising against racism, social classes and poverty in our society. The Roots and John Legend promote their content with sounds we love, lyrics we respect and magic we've longed for.

Nivea Covers Sade?

Okay people, no one needs to cover Sade...rather no one should. Let's be serious, although Nivea does make an attempt to cover Sade's classic track, "Stronger Than Pride," she really shouldn't have bothered. Sade is an icon...let's make new music, shall we? Let's come out with something NEW! Especially, when Nivea has been gone as long as she has, she needs to come out with something fresh to grab our attention. We've already heard Sade, and only she should be singing her music. She's one of a kind Nivea...don't waste your time covering a classic, especially for a mixtape! Allegedly, she has a mixtape coming out, but hopefully we won't be disappointed. I'm crossing my fingers that its not a bunch of covers.

Rihanna is the Only Girl

Rihanna is back with her infectious beats, and intoxicating voice. She lifts you off the ground at the club as her music sounds like its from another place. I thought I was tired of the electro-trendy music that we hear seemingly too often, but apparently I'm not. Rihanna continues to smash the radio. She knows what we like and she delivers!

Lauryn Hill and Ron Isley Cover!

This beautiful rendition of Burt Bacharach's song, "They Long to Be Close To You," brings grace and elegance to music once again. Lauryn brings her classic and extremely missed voice to the track with beautiful harmonies with Ron Isley. The piano lead melody has the sweet old soul sound that we've longed for and is strictly for lovers. Although, both artists have been missing from the scene for many years, they reappear and reassure us that they still have talent and can come back whenever they like. This track is said to be on Ron Isley's new album coming soon.

Keri Hilson's New Track "Still A Girl"

Second to her first single "Breaking Point" produced by Timbaland is another unreleased new track "Still A Girl." Its a soft track about how women really feel in relationships. We're still girls. The track has got Keri's "popish" style and brings a certain grace to the song. Her songwriting skills are shining again. Although, this single might not be single-ready, it does provide a good transitional space for Miss Keri. Her album is out this fall!

Willow Smith Whips Her Hair!! September 9th

Willow Smith “Whip My Hair”

We’ve seen her stuntin’ her “o too cute” self on the red carpet with her wildly talented family, The Smiths, and now super young and trendy, Willow Smith, has just wowed us with a sick new single “Whip My Hair”. With an electrifying hook that slaps so, “I whip my hair back and forth”, reminds us of a “Rihanna” attitude and has a female empowerment asset along with her sassy style. This track’s jam-packed with big sound, swag for days, and is sure to be a hit on the pop charts. It’s got an addictive aura and is definitely going to be played on repeat on every girl’s stereo. Although, only 9 years old, she’s already been signed to Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation. She is set to have an amazing music career, her possibilities are limitless with such a great single, and we can’t wait to hear what’s next.
